Synopsis

LA BOXE tells its story without narration, letting fists, feet and faces speak. We witness a dance on the ropes that calls Nijinsky to mind. In a confident, musicless composition of movement and silence, a filmmaker who knows the craft deliberately arranges images to express boxing's fascination. By the end of the half-hour film, after passing through its rounds like a ringside judge, what lingers is a sense of wonder—the grace of a sport which, at its finest, might deserve the music of Claude Debussy.
