Director Writer Editor Daniel Ulacia Balmaseda

Daniel Ulacia Balmaseda’s work moves between art, narrative practice, and documentary film. Born in Mexico City in 1988, he studied at the Faculty of Arts and Design of the National Autonomous University of Mexico from 2008 to 2013. In 2012, he won the award for Best Documentary Short at the Morelia International Film Festival, and in 2014 he received a residency grant from Werkleitz in Halle. After completing his master’s degree in Narrative Practice in 2017, he spent time at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In 2022, FONCA awarded him a Young Creators grant for screenwriting.
