Born in Hanoi, the director, writer, and producer came to Berlin as the son of contract workers in the former GDR. In award-winning films such as Obst & Gemüse, Farewell Halong, and Trading Happiness, he draws on his own experiences of migration and offers an individual perspective on the subject.
