“I stopped looking for answers a long time ago. Yet I find them everywhere. They tell me nothing. Nothing at all.”

Drawing on documentary strategies, SPIN approaches—in situational and associative form—the complexity of humanity's search for the meaning of being: the need and the audacity to investigate the origins of the universe, to seek a universal answer capable of uniting everything, while understanding that the limits of the human mind may forever place it beyond reach. Poetry and interviews with physicists, philosophers, a Sufi sheikha and a semazen, or whirling dervish, are woven together with audiovisual studies of rotation. Across multiple modes of thought, doubt and differentiation, the film invites reflection on body and mind as instruments of experience, tools for generating knowledge and catalysts between science and spirituality. With every new impulse to turn, truth and meaning are placed in question once more. The dance of the Mevlevi Sufis and theoretical physics' concept of spin condense the complexity of this search for meaning and truth.

Beginning from a desert landscape to which the viewer repeatedly returns, the film unfolds as an audiovisual collage that invites reflection across many levels.

In both form and formulation, SPIN places mobility and difference, relationality and the absence of answers at the centre of its inquiry. It observes, questions and captures—quietly, sometimes with striking clarity—the forms of grounding and position that emerge within recurring movements in relation to particular contexts and concepts of knowledge: how they solidify, and how they might be set in motion again.
