Editor Janine Dauterich

Janine Dauterich combines documentary editing with a particular interest in the creative relationship between editor and director. She studied editing at the Konrad Wolf Academy of Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg. In her diploma thesis, “Beziehungskiste Schneideraum,” she explored the editing room as a space shaped by intimacy, power, trust and communication. Her documentary work has received numerous honours, including the Deutscher Kamerapreis for “Beethovens Neunte – Symphonie für die Welt” and both the German Television Award and the German Academy for Television Award for “Gladbeck.” She was nominated for the Deutscher Kamerapreis for “The War on My Phone,” while “Starting with Fragments” received an award for Best Editing. Dauterich also shares her experience as a guest lecturer at film schools, art academies and universities across Germany and Europe, and serves on juries supporting film and emerging talent.
