‚Kaltes Tal‘ wirft Fragen auf, löst tiefe Assoziationen aus und schafft nachhaltige Verunsicherung. Ein dokumentarisches Kunstwerk.
Jury Deutscher Kurzfilmpreis

Synopsis

Shifting between aesthetic composition and documentary observation, the short film KALTES TAL traces the working processes of an open-cast limestone mine. Once extracted and processed, the material is returned to nature by liming the forest—a measure intended to counteract the acid rain burdening its soil.

A cycle like a Möbius strip: an attempt to restore nature's fragile equilibrium in response to the irreversible consequences of resource extraction. Limestone dust settles gently across the forest floor. A white, otherworldly realm opens up, calling our ambivalent relationship with nature into question.

Les Rites de Passage

14 Min., Experimentalfilm , Kurzfilm

A cloud of ash settles softly upon the currents of a river. Light enters the heart of a tree through a myriad of tiny holes. Monoculture forests succumb to parasites and become fertile ground for forms of life still to come. A film about earthly and mythological passages through becoming and decay.

Umbra

20 Min., Experimentalfilm , Kurzfilm

A shimmering light, the rustle of the leaves, round spots of light in the shade of a tree. The sun reflects on the water. It is an element and counterpart. Can nature observe itself? A cinematic reflection on the presence and absence of things.
