Synopsis

When ten-year-old Elias loses his beloved father in a car crash, he cannot bring himself to believe that he is truly gone. His father has always come home from his business trips before—and this time he promised he would return as well. Together, they had been looking forward to watching Apollo’s historic first moon landing.

As the family struggles with its grief and tries to move on, Elias retreats into denial. At school, he insists that his father is still alive. He wears his clothes, carries on writing letters to his grandmother in his father’s name, and continues the Jules Verne adventures they once shared, now playing his father’s part himself. His mother, uncle, and older brother do everything they can to help him accept the truth, but nothing seems to reach him.

Then, as the day of the moon landing draws near, Elias finally discovers a way to let his father go—and to say goodbye in his own way.
