Inverse Geometry unfolds a fictional story about the crossing of intimate boundaries. At the centre of its cinematic inquiry is the domestic interior: its furnishings, its objects, and the ways in which they are spatially inscribed within architecture.
Animal spirits wander through the night. Bruises appear on people‘s bodies. Echoes of displacement and slavery of Afro-descendants find resonance in the melancholic landscapes of the Mexican Costa Chica.
Moving through familiar routines, a pole dancer and a rhythmic gymnast each take over the other's stage. Conceived as an experiment, ROTATION explores the reciprocal relationship between body, dance and space.
Shot in the suburbs of South Los Angeles, Yalda Afsah's short film SSRC focuses on the relationship between trained pigeons and their keepers, exploring mutual dependence and care, domestication and dominance—and ultimately the agency of human and non-human beings.
»BOY« narrates through pictures of urban environments and close observations the lives of a girl which is raised as a boy in Afghanistan and a young afghan singer, who now lives in London but wore boys clothes to be more free in afghan society.
Beginning with a rotational movement, SPIN places mobility and difference, relationality and the absence of answers at the centre of an inquiry poised between theoretical physics and Sufism.
