Synopsis

For many Vietnamese Germans, and for Yen Nguyen in particular, feeling different or out of place is deeply familiar. In a small German town, she is instinctively overwhelmed by the urge to blend in: be whiter, have more German friends. From her new life in Oslo, 900 kilometres from her family, she sets out on a journey back to her roots—a confrontation with self-acceptance, identity and family.
